The first-ever Muay Thai Expo will be held next month in the Buriram province of Isaan, a region known for producing many of the country’s Muay Thai champions.
The event will take place over the course of four days, from Oct. 4 to 7, at Chang International Circuit. While the full schedule of the event hasn’t been released yet, the event organizers say that they are planning to have Wai Kru demonstrations by local schools, as well as kiosks that will display everything Muay Thai — from historical memorabilia to merchandise for sale.
Apparently, visitors can also expect an appearance by Saenchai aka Suphachai Saenpong, the four-time champion of Lumpinee Stadium, to hold Muay Thai lessons for attendees as well.
On the second day of the expo, there will be actual Muay Thai matches between local fighters. One particular highlight in these lineups is one match dubbed “The Legend of Muay Thai,” which will see Olympic Gold medalist Somrak Khamsing pitted against golden era champion Samart Payakaroon.
The event is co-hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Sports Authority of Thailand, and the Kru Muay Association. The expo will coincide with Thailand’s first ever MotoGP, a prestigious motorcycle racing championship, which will also be held at the same venue from Oct. 5 to 7.

Admission into the Muay Thai Expo is THB200 (about US$6) per visitor, per day. Guests who want to attend the MotoGP while they’re at it will have to pay another fee of THB2,299 (US$70.43) for the three-day event.
