Mrs. Universe represents Thailand with ‘Wat Phra Kaew’ costume

Miss Thailand brought home the Best Costume award with her tuk-tuk dress. So, now Mrs. Thailand hopes to do the same by sporting a golden ensemble modeled after Bangkok’s most famous temple.

Mrs. Universe’ committee released photos yesterday of Kanthicha Chimsiri, 31, Thailand’s “Mrs. Universe” contestant, in the outfit she plans to wear to compete in the global pageant. Her fancy new “Golden Pagoda Dress,” inspired by Wat Phra Kaew, had Thai netizens commenting immediately.

The outfit, which costs THB50,000, was created by Thai designer Tortermfan Chayapan.

The headpiece alone reportedly weighs over 5 kilograms, which is not a light commitment.

Kanthicha is preparing to compete in the Mrs. Universe competition, which will be held in September in Kwangjo, China, Matichon reported.
