After years of elegant, culture-inspired dresses didn’t bring home an award for national costume, Miss Universe Thailand is going all out this year with this ridiculous, yet rad “tuk tuk dress.”
Miss Universe Thailand Aniporn “Nat” Chaloemburanawong, 21, proudly showed off the automobile-themed outfit to the press and public for the first time this afternoon, along with other pretty, more conventional dresses she’ll be wearing in the international Miss Universe pageant, due to be held next month in Las Vegas.
The winning design, inspired by Thailand’s iconic means of transportation, was created by cultural scholar Hirankrit Paipibulkul. The dress was made from chromium and decorated with real light bulbs that Nat can flash at her competitors.
While the idea seems awesome, netizens suggested the pageant committee should also consider designing the back of the dress to look like the passenger space – because when Nat turns around, you can see her control panel.
