Although they give a sped-up look at already crazy urban life, time-lapse films are strangely soothing.
In “The Beauty of Faith” Saengthit Kamlangchai has all the necessary elements of the form: bustling people, beautiful temples and of course clouds flying past the sun.
The 28-year-old filmmaker said it’s a technique available even for casual filmmakers.
Kamlangchai told the Bangkok Post he was inspired by films such as Adventure Is Calling, so he researched how to make his own films by reading tutorials online.
For Faith, Kamalangchai said he used a Canon 5D Mark III, a tripod and an intervalometer, which automatically shoots frames according to the interval you have set.
He says you don’t need to be a professional to make a video like this. Anyone with a camera should be able to make a short time-lapse clip. However, if people want to make a high quality film he recommends using the techniques and tools he used.
A bigger challenge, he said, is getting access to the perfect rooftop locations, so would-be filmmakers should practice their negotiation skills, Bangkok Post reported.
