Months of pent-up jokesmithing will burst (and probably bust) tomorrow night when a regular open mic night is back at its usual Soi Sukhumvit 13 haunt.
Raw Comedy returns Wednesday night for those who love or love to hate Bangkok’s stand-up scene for its first open mic show at Live Lounge since everything went spike protein-shaped earlier this year.
“Raw Comedy is where touring pros, seasoned vets, and newcomers alike come to hone their jokes,” said Justin St-Denis, Raw cofounder and regular. “With 10+ comics ready to take the stage with 8-months-worth of untested material, it’s sure to be quite a spectacle.”
A place for comedians to workshop their material, Raw nights have, for four years, brought as much secondhand embarrassment as laughs; but like Gandhi famously said, one must learn to die before one can learn to kill.
Live Lounge is located upstairs at the Sportsman bar in Soi Sukhumvit 13, a short walk from BTS Nana. Entry is THB200 at the door.
