A new underground music event space will play host to a special six-series event as part of its grand opening this weekend.
Kangkao is a Thai DJ collective consisting of four local acts that formed during the COVID-19 pandemic. This Saturday will see the launch of their “Kangkao Echo” music event series, which will play out over the next six months at the new venue of the same name. The event series will showcase local and international talent complimented by art and light installations.
“We will be showcasing various performances in the space,” Kangkao creative director and DJ Payu Von Buren told Coconuts. “The six events will be mainly by music-based with immersive lighting surrounded by different set installations to immerse you even more into the setting.”
“In between those six events we are working to use the space as a function hall for exhibitions of art, fashion, lifestyle.”
The first event, titled ‘Into the Unknown’, will take place this Saturday (May 27). According to Kangkao’s description, it will send listeners “on a journey to explore a new unknown territory” and audiences should “expect a celebration of the rich and diverse soundscape of Bangkok”.
In addition to five resident and local DJs, the event will also feature Turin-based DJ Alex Dima playing his first-ever set for Bangkok.
This kind of raving requires good eats to keep you fueled and Kangkao has you covered. Expect homecooked Pakistani, Peruvian and Vietnamese food by social platform Na Project. All proceeds made from food sales will be donated to refugee families and the youth training program at Sati Non-Profit.
The 900-sqm Kangkao Echo venue is located inside Trinity Mall in Silom.
