Inside Sven Väth and Nakadia’s massive island tour

Illuzion was electric with energy as people poured in from Patong’s busiest/craziest street, Bangla Road. Techno fans made their way up Illuzion’s stairs, already pulsing and rocking to the electro beats. The club is usually pretty packed, but with Papa Sven and Nakadia manning the decks, the massive crowds took over every dance-able space in the club.

It’s not every day (or every year) that a world renowned DJ rocks the crowds here in Thailand. Let alone someone as popular as Sven Väth. The German-based DJ has been pioneering techno sounds for decades, whipping crowds across the globe into a frenzy with his unique beats.

Sven was joined by DJ Nakadia, a rising star in the world of techno and house music. Nakadia, originally from Thailand and now based in Berlin, was all smiles as she spun tracks with Sven.

Nakadia was on deck, spinning her unique blend of upbeat house music for over two hours. The crowd was a cool mix of tourists, locals and expats based in Phuket. And they loved Nakadia’s uplifting beats. Some even passed her presents, like fuzzy bunny ears, which she happily wore for the rest of her set.

Sven and Nakadia went on to appear in Koh Samui the next weekend, followed by a set at LIVE RCA in Bangkok. At each venue, when the crowds spotted Sven, the screams were deafening. Some held up signs proclaiming their love for Papa Sven and passed him flowers and tokens of their love.

Sven started his sets with classic club beats and hard hitting rhythms that got deeper as the night wore on. His classic tracks moved the crowd in a hypnotic trance. The drops came with precision timing; Sven knew exactly what the people wanted.

Nakadia and her crew of friends were mesmerized dancing on stage as Papa Sven’s laser focus on the decks made everyone lose track of time and place. Berlin, Bangkok, Phuket or Koh Samui – techno music is about uniting and letting go all at once. And although the crowd was diverse, it was obvious that everyone knew exactly what to expect from Sven and Nakadia: a night to lose yourself to the music.
