Indonesian metal group Voice of Baceprot will make their return to Bangkok for a full-blown live concert later this month.
The hijab-wearing, heavy metal group, consisting of vocalist-guitarist Firda Marsya Kurnia, drummer Euis Siti Aisyah, and bassist Widi Rahmawati, will perform on August 27 at intimate venue Montri Studio 6 in Bang Kapi district.
Formed in 2014 in their hometown, the West Javan city of Garut, Voice of Baceprot (baceprot meaning “noisy” in Sudanese) gained prominence for their covers of rock groups such as Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Linkin Park.
VoB’s conservative attire, juxtaposed with their metal style of music, has earned them praise for breaking gender and religious stereotypes, as well as condemnation from conservative groups back home.
The group previously performed in Bangkok in 2018 at the inaugural edition of the Bangkok Biennial contemporary art festival.
Tickets for the gig are available via Ticketmelon for THB1,500.
