Hot Off The Runway: Bangkok International Fashion Week 2018 brings phenomenal fashion to Siam

PRESENTED BY

One of the most anticipated events in Bangkok’s fashion calendar is back, for the 11th year in a row. Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, in collaboration as One Siam, present Bangkok International Fashion Week 2018 under the creative concept of Bangkok’s Fashion Destination @ Siam.

Here’s your chance to experience Fashion with a capital F.

There are 12 remarkable brands showing on the world-class runway of Parc Paragon. This year features top brands from both Thai and international designers. Check out the innovative patterns of Palmer//Harding, the vibrant colors of Issue, the sleek, sexy style of VATANIKA, and the bohemian innocence of Rotsaniyom WHITE LABEL, among many others.

Recently, this humble writer had the chance to sit #frontrow at The Invisible By ISSUE SS 2018. It was a fantastic show complete with dramatic twists. One of which was a sandy runway. (And not a high heel to be seen!) After the lights faded, soft saloon music began playing. Two figures representing “the invisible” appeared and with that the runway came to life.

The collection represents the irreverent character of ISSUE with playful patterns, tribal influences, and tropical vibes. Vibrant color accents and little surprises like flowing chiffon, feather fringe, and glittery embroidered beads made the collection stand out—and made it difficult to choose our favorites because we loved them all.

Before we knew it, the show was over and applause was ringing through the venue, but the memorable new designs by ISSUE haven’t faded from our minds.

One phrase you might hear being thrown around front rows is “the shirt boys.” Fashion lovers in the know will recognize the nickname for Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding, the co-founders and designers of Palmer//Harding. The innovative brand, by the Central Saint Martins-trained duo, uses unique pattern cutting and draping techniques to reinterpret the classic shirt.

For S/S2018, the shirt boys got their inspiration from an American artist from the 60s, Robert Rauschenberg. The result is unexpected textures, combined with their signature layers, asymmetrical design, stripes, and draping. Their designs remind us of a woman who’s confident, who leans in hard, and who is capable of doing anything she puts her mind to. We’re definitely here for it.

The Palmer//Harding Runway Showcase is the exclusive premier of their A/W 2018 collection, and you’ll find it only at BIFW 2018 from Mar. 23-27. Shop the remarkable collection at the Palmer//Harding pop up store at Siam Discovery The Exploratorium from Mar. 15-31 and get 10% off your purchase by presenting your BIFW 2018 fashion show ticket.

Discover the new faces of Thai fashion and see all the latest creative designs at Siam Center The Ideopolis. Stop by the runway on the ground floor and watch shows from emerging designers. Students from the College of Creative Industry Srinakarinwirot University, Chanapatana International Design Institute, as well as Donnawat Perkchinnaworn, the designer of up-and-coming brand Valentier, and Kanapot Anusorn, will be showcasing their designs. There will also be shows from beloved Thai brands like DA+PP, Rotsaniyom, and many more.

If you fall in love with an outfit from any of the shows (and we think you will) you don’t have to wait for the collection to come out. Head to BIFW Pop Up: See Now Buy Now, a pop up store on M floor, Siam Center, and buy the latest designs at up to 15% off.
