Maneepat “Myra” Molloy has risen to be one of seven remaining contestants on the new talent show “Rising Star” airing in the United States.
The 16-year-old, Thai-American singer nailed it with a rendition of “Stars” by Grace Potter and The Nocturnals and received 68 percent of the vote. She also earned a “yes” from two of the show’s three judges. Kesha and Brad Paisley, whose vote counted for 5 percent, both agreed Myra shown big improvement since her first audition. Meanwhile, Ludacris voted “no” because he felt that Myra’s stage presence was lacking.

Last Sunday’s show was Myra’s third live performance.
Myra, the winner of Thailand’s Got Talent Season 1, moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment there and has taken part in the competition on the ABC network.
She performed “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles in the show’s “Duels” phase after singing the Italian classic “Con Te Partiro” for the auditions.

Next week, Myra will compete against the other six contestants in the show’s quarterfinals to get a chance at the semifinals.
