Hong Kong raised its travel warning to Thailand this afternoon to “black” (the highest level) urging citizens citizens to avoid all travel to Bangkok, said Sukree Sitthiwanch, the deputy marketing director of TAT.
The only other countries earning the black level are Syria, Egypt, and the Philippines.
The warning derived from the declaration of state of emergency by the Thai government, causing Hong Kong to lose confidence in the safety.
So what about many of us who live here?
However, no curfew has been enforced in the capital yet, Daily News reported.
Thailand has become more popular among Hong Kong tourists. Last year, Thailand had approximately 500,000 visitors from Hong Kong, equivalent to 28.7 percent increase.
Correction: An earlier version of this story said that Hong Kong had forbidden tourism to Thailand. That is incorrect. The black-level warning states that Hong Kong citizens are urged to avoid all travel to Bangkok. We regret the error and apologize.
