High honors: Bangkok dispensary to hold ‘Cannabis Cup’

Think you know how to roll a mean blunt? Roll and grow your way to the top when a riverside dispensary hosts its first competitive cannabis event later this year.

The folks at No Man’s Land said their Cannabis Cup Thailand will feature workshops, music, art and a whole lotta dank weed as well as prizes worth THB200,000 baht for the fastest stoners who can roll sick joints and the most popular farmhouse growers.

Competition is split into three categories. The first, Best Grower of the Year, requires participants to have a weed license or registration via the Plook Ganja app. Contestants must prove that they’re only growing cannabis within Thailand with photo and/or video evidence, and must specify their strains. Participants must also send samples by Dec. 1 for review. Those not up to snuff will be disqualified, and their weed returned.

The second and third categories, Speed Roll Joint and Creative Joint, are looking for the most skillful of rollers.

Contestants must be 20 and up. Register for the growing category or rolling event online.

The fee to apply is, as expected, THB420. Souvenirs and a gram of weed will be provided to those who enter. Preliminary rounds begin Nov. 13 followed by finals on Dec. 10.

Beginning as a hidden rooftop bar located on the fifth floor of an office building in Charoen Krung, No Man’s Land has expanded into a dispensary. It features an outdoor smoking balcony lounge – now closed due to the rainy season – and a chill-out area filled with bean bags and console games.
