Official Loy Krathong celebrations will go off over four days at 10 piers across Bangkok located at Buddhist temples and two riverside shopping malls.
Starting at 5 pm on Saturday through Tuesday, the festival will include the customary floating of krathong and praying into the night as well as other activities including community markets and Thai street food at most piers, Performances will be held at Asiatique the Riverfront with different artists all four days.
The sanctioned list of locations to float your boats includes Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Prayun, Wat Kalayanamit Woramahawihan, Wat Rakhang Kositaram Woramahawihan, Tha Maharaj, Asiatique the Riverfront, Lhong 1919, Icon Siam, and The Guan Yu Shrine.
There will be free speedboat shuttles between the 10 locations during official festival hours.
Of course, the best way to honor the river is to enjoy the festivities without floating any krathong, which foul Thailand’s waterways with tons of waste annually.
