The insulting riches of Bangkok’s party scene exist thanks in no small part to the army of DJs who organize, promote and rock the living hell out of the city’s nightlife. In “Hang the DJ,” Coconuts gives you a chance to get acquainted with some of the capital’s better beatsmiths.
How did you get into DJ-ing?
I got into DJing first because I loved to share good tracks with my friends since I was young, then I started to learn about club DJing at the age of 15. I searched on the Internet for a DJ school and went to take the course.
Describe the music you play in five words.
ELECTRO IS BEST FOR DANCE
What’s the most fun you’ve ever had at a gig? Give us all the ugly details.
The most fun gig I ever had is the grand opening of Safe House nightclub in Bangkok. It’s because I was the first one to play at the club and it was packed with people, the queue to enter the club was so long. People danced like crazy and wild. It made me really happy to know what the crowd wanted to hear was electro!
What’s your favorite venue to play in Bangkok?
My favorite clubs that I love to play the most are Safe House and Demo. This is because in these clubs, I can play all the good tracks and new tracks which people who come to party, enjoy and dance. Even if they don’t know what the music is, they just keep on enjoying their night with the DJ.
Which track are you most excited about right now?
“Slowdown” – Showtek. This track has a good drop and a very nice melody in it.

Dubstep: yea or nay?

What’s one song you will never, ever play?
“Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman” maybe? Hahaha
What’s the best way for someone to get you to play his or her request?
The best way is to see what music and style I’m playing at that time and request a song in a similar genre or style to the one I’m playing.
What shows/residencies do you have lined up?
I’ve played in many of the good nightclubs in Bangkok and the countryside. Now I am a resident DJ at Safe House on Monday and Tuesday nights and at Hongsamudd Music Arena Club on Saturday nights.
