Update: Organizer BEC-Entertainment announced Friday that the gig would be indefinitely postponed. Ticket holders wanting refunds can do so via www.ThaiTicketMajor.com, 02-262-3838 or cs@thaiticketmajor.com. Refunds will be available up until March 31.

Green Day, one of the biggest punk rock bands of all time, announced last night that it will be coming to Asia to promote the band’s eighth studio album 21st Century Breakdown.

Best known for hit songs like 21 Guns, American Idiot, Wake Me Up When September Ends and many, many more, the American rock band — consisting of members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool — will be playing in several countries across Asia, including in Coconuts cities Singapore, Bangkok, Manila and Hong Kong.

The band’s Asia tour will start in Singapore on March 8, then move on to Bangkok on March 11. After that, it’s Manila on March 14, with stops in Taipei, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan to follow.

In Bangkok, the concert will take place at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani. Tickets start at THB2,000 and they will be available online from Nov. 2.

The band played in Bangkok for the first time in 1996 at MBK Hall, and followed that debut show up with a performance in 2010 playing at Impact Area Muang Thong Thani.

The upcoming 2020 Bangkok gig will also take place at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani, an indoor arena that can seat up to 12,000 people. Ticketing details will be announced on a later date by local promoters.

Green Day was formed in 1986 in California and burst on to the punk rock scene — before hitting major mainstream success — upon the release of its major label debut Dookie in 1994.
