Buri Ram is home to some of the kindest, gentlest souls. They also maintain some interesting beliefs about the spiritual opportunities of kitten-tainted meat and take the ghost thing pretty seriously.
We recently wrote about the protective measures taken there to keep evil spirits out of their homes. Buri Ram native and Coconuts reader Saison Kaewraksa says it’s true, and whether people fully believe in the red shirts’ power, many locals hang them “just in case.” Saison adds that other interesting totems have been created. To ward off one horny, mortal man-stealing girl ghost, some have set up wooden schlongs outside their homes for her, ahem, satisfaction.
UPDATE: Apparently residents are still being terrorized by the ghost. Saison says eight local men have died without cause while sleeping since February.
“It looks like the woman ghost needs a husband again,” she said.
