Happy 4/20. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate the green holiday in style, Highland, Thailand’s own cannabis culture-dedicated magazine, and the subject of Coconuts’ Netflix docuseries of the same name, is hosting their fourth annual daylong festival trumpeting all things green on the roof of Rama 9’s Fortune Town mall tomorrow.
Starting, of course, at 4:20pm, the rooftop will hold a full lineup of exhibits, workshops, talks, panel discussions, and live music performances as well as loads of stuff to buy and eat.
For those interested in educating themselves, explore exhibits related to Thailand’s cannabis history, hemp and bamboo products, and how cannabis had touched Thailand in the medical, social, and legal arenas.
There will also be live demos of hemp fiber making and traditional bamboo bong making.
Live speakers will include cancer survivor Nikorn on the medical benefits of cannabis therapy, DJ Lovebuzz will chat about the social aspects of the plant’s place in modern life, and activist Veeraphan Ngammee will share the state and future of the legality of the plant in the kingdom.
A panel discussion will delve into the future of cannabis in Thailand while the Lifestyle Market will offer 50 vendors selling organic, art, fashion, health, and well-being products for sale. The 20 food stalls are sure to offer up some prime munchies while the beer garden will soothe parched throats.
Music is one of the highlights of the event, which boasts live music going almost nonstop. Bands playing include live electronic rap act Miraculous, reggae group Goldred, modern Indian-style rock group Yensuk (เย็นสุข), nine-piece ska outfit with horn section Samainainiyom (สมัยไหนนิยม), and West of East, a folk-rock trip that bills itself as Western music by Eastern players.
