We’re not given to gushing over a television series, but come on … Thrones.
The world’s most-pirated television series for the past three years will be available in Thailand at the same moment it premieres around the world next month.
An HBO spokeswoman confirmed today that Thailand – unlike the United Kingdom – will be among the 170 countries where the season five premiere will be simulcast via HBO Asia.
Online piracy has to factor into the decision to air the series without delay. HBO, a premium pay service, has issued beaming press releases confirming the series’ status as most-pirated online and has sought to increase its availability via streaming services that remain unavailable in Asia.
The simulcast may please HBO subscribers but is unlikely to make much of a dent in the massive torrent flow that begins moments after the episodes broadcast.
The new season will premiere on HBO Asia at 9am on Monday, April 13.
