Fashion exhibition looks at Japanese designer who set his own trends

Master tailor Yohji Yamamoto is a legend among designers and continues producing work even at 71.

“I think perfection is ugly,” the Tokyo-born designer has been quoted as saying. “Somewhere in the things human make, I want to see scars, failure, disorder, distortion.”

His work and its philosophy will be the subject of “Yohji Yamamoto Exhibition” next week at Siam Center.

The opening reception starts at 6pm on Oct. 21.
