Thailand’s fashion scene has become increasingly exciting in recent years, with art-minded individuals such as Moo Piyasombatkul constructing ceramic-encrusted glasses frames, and venues such as Tube Gallery allowing artists like Christian Develter to turn fashion garments in works of art.
We can’t wait to find out what the next generation of Thailand’s design talent has in store. This Saturday, we’ll get a chance to do just that as graduate students of fine applied arts at Thammasat University will showcase their final projects at the Thai Royal Turf Club at 3:30pm.
The theme of this year’s presentation is “Reflection,” which one of last year’s students (and our helpful translator for the event’s organisers), Nattawan, explains is a chance for the students to reflect themselves through art. “Everyone has their own experiences, and art is a chance for them to reflect it in their own way.”
The 14 students involved in the show have spent the past year researching their chosen concepts and then representing these concepts through the medium of fashion. On the guest list are some of the city’s most influential fashion faces, all hoping to spot the next big design talent – and we have it on good authority that there are some seriously exciting pieces set to grace the runway.

A follow-up exhibition featuring both fashion and textile students will be held at Central World from 7 through 11 of April
