Epicenter of Sukhumvit: Mall Group aims to Em-press

After Siam Paragon fever died, The Mall Group knows what we need to get excited once again: more shiny, new malls.

The multi-billion baht “Epicenter of Sukhumvit” project aims to lift up Klong Toei, establish a new business center and break into the top-five list of the world’s best malls.

Three world-class shopping malls will comprise the Epicenter, including the grand renovation of the Emporium along with two new malls coming up nearby: The EmQuartier and The EmSphere.

Kraingsak Tantiphipop, the CEO of the Emporium Group, says the project will be the next step for Thailand’s retail industry. Sprawling across 600,000 sqm., the three malls together will hold over 1,000 International and Thai retail stores.

The new EmQuartier will consist of offices, event halls and a large rooftop garden while the EmSphere will be the “center of world-class shopping.” Kraingsak added the brands selected for the project are either very famous or high-end, all to create “an atmosphere of luxury.”

The design of the malls is inspired by the arts, as the company pulled many international and Thai designers to work on the project.

The renovation of the Emporium and the construction of The EmQuartier will be finished by the end of next year, and the EmSphere will open in 2016, Sanook reported.
