A ‘70s luk thung song from legendary musician Waipod Petchsupan is gaining popularity online for the first time this week after the song was featured in a juice commercial in the Netherlands.
When a Thai resident of Holland heard “Ding Dong,” the catchy luk thung song featured in the commercial, she decided to spread the news on Pantip. Soon the commercial was posted to YouTube and was flooded with comments from Thai fans.
The majority suggest they’re happy an old luk thung song received international recognition.
The song “Ding Dong” was sung by Waipod Petchsupan, 1997’s National Artist who has recorded more than 2,000 songs in his career.
Besides his luk thung work, Waipod is also known as Thailand’s top artist to sing lae songs or ballad-style songs.
