Disney World will come to Thailand, Siam Park City CEO predicts

A theme park tycoon said today he is convinced world-class theme parks such as Disney World and Universal Studios will open in Thailand within a decade.

Siam Park City CEO Chaiwat Luangamornlert said once the ASEAN economic community gears up, Thailand will be the obvious target for investors looking to expand their entertainment empires of theme parks and similar attractions.

Chaiwat made his case using a long, tortured metaphor.

“Investors are like fish. Where there’s water, the fish swim there,” Chaiwat explained. “Disney World has opened in Shanghai and Universal Studios in Singapore because of the water. Once there’s water in Southeast Asia, these investors will come to Thailand because they need to expand their businesses for their own development.”

Chaiwat suggested investing in China would be too expensive while Thailand’s neighboring countries are inconvenient due to inadequate facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, Thailand should be prepare to welcome these investors.

Chaiwat said Siam Park City itself will have to adapt to the future. The park will welcome younger generations to run and develop the park to international standards. Chaiwat said he ain’t worried though, Post Today reported.
