Critically acclaimed ‘Parasite’ returns to Thai screens

Bangkok, if months ago you missed what’s risen from obscurity to become the most-talked movie, now you have another chance.

Thai cinemas are bringing Parasite back to the screens after the film won the best foreign language award at the Golden Globes yesterday in Hollywood, making it the first South Korean work to win at the award.

Starting tomorrow, major corporate chain Major Cineplex will screen Parasite at a dozen venues in the metro area including EmQuartier, IconSiam, CentralPlaza Rama III and Future Park Rangsit in Pathum Thani province. Apart from that Major half of Thailand’s movie duopoly, indie cinema House Samyan near MRT Samyan said it will also show the black comedy thriller later this month.

Directed by Bong Joon-ho, the film confronts the class divide in a surprisingly funny yet harrowing tale of a poor family who insert themselves into the lives of a wealthy Seoul family. The film has bagged several awards including Palme d’or at Cannes in May.
