Bangkok’s sprawling outdoor source of everything from hip T-shirts to trafficked wildlife will no longer be a weekend-only affair.

Starting next month, the Chatuchak Weekend Market’s vendors will be able to open their stalls six days a week under plans approved by City Hall, which manages the site.

The largest market in all the realm, offering everything from clothing and antiques to plants and animals, will open every day except Monday starting Mid-April, Wanlaya Wattanarat of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said yesterday. She said the updated contract would help ease the pandemic pain to the local economy.

During the week, stalls will be allowed to stay open until 6pm, while closing time will be 10pm on the weekend.

Wanlaya also said the city will add more lights and renovate pathways at the world-famous market that’s home to more than 10,000 stalls.
