Cancel like a man: No Frankie Valli show for volatile Thailand

Although Bangkok’s unrest has fallen short of shutting down the capital, it has cost the kingdom its dream of hearing a 79-year-old doo-wop legend.

Former Four Seasons frontman Frankie Valli’s concert in the Thai capital was canceled yesterday “due to the current political situation and its associated difficulties, and for the safety and well-being of customers,” according to promoter BEC-Tero Entertainment PCL.

Wednesday’s show was to be held at Central Plaza Lad Phrao.

“I am truly disappointed that I can’t perform for my fans in Thailand on January 22,” Frankie lamented in the announcement, before breaking into a heart-wrenching rendition of “Who Loves You?” “But your safety and security are more important and really matter to me. My thoughts are with you all. I promise I will come back to perform in Thailand soon.”

Now that’s classy.

Forthcoming concerts such as Avril Lavigne in February and Eric Clapton and Bruno Mars in March have not been canceled, Associated Press reported.
