Another long-awaited Thai film headed to local screens dropped its official trailer this morning.
From Bad Genius director Nattawut “Baz” Poonpiriya and famed Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai, One for the Road will finally premiere in its home country on Feb. 10. Film studio GDH 559 teased its domestic debut with an official trailer.
Shot in New York and Thailand, the movie chronicles Boss (heartthrob Thanapob “Tor” Thanapob) as he reunites with estranged friend Aood (Natara “Ice” Nopparatayapon) who is dying of cancer. The two buddies embark on a final road trip to complete a bucket list – but each is hiding something.
Rounding out the cast is Violette Wautier, Ploi Horwang, and Siraphun “Noon” Wattanajinda. It also sees the return of Chutimon “Aokbab” Chuengcharoensukying, who rose to fame as the scheming straight-A student protagonist of internationally successful Bad Genius.
The 136-minute road trip dramedy premiered on the world stage last year at the Sundance Film Festival.
Talk about creative marketing; the film already has a bar dedicated to it. Baz, who was a partner in Phrom Phong’s Mutual Bar, recently opened OFTR in Soi Sukhumvit 31 with a New York vibe that invites customers to “sip a good trip.”
