BREAKING: ‘It’s my fault,’ Tono says of Tangmo suicide attempt

The kingdom’s fixation with a lovelorn celeb’s attempted suicide shifted to the man who jilted her, who broke his silence this afternoon to hold a news conference and say really sweet things about his former fiance.

Reality TV singer Phakin “Tono” Kumvilaisak spoke to the media this afternoon after his ex Pattaratida “Tangmo” Patcharaveerapong was rushed to the emergency room Monday night for overdosing sleeping pills and cutting her wrist, an episode posted as it happened to Instagram by one of her friends.

“I’m worried …” were the first words from Tono at the presser arranged at the headquarters of his employer, GMM Grammy. “It’s my fault. I’m sorry.” he said. “Sometimes two people try to make their love last, but for whatever reasons, it can also end badly. And when this happened, nobody is happy, her, me or our family.”

Tono admitted the couple, who’d become engaged nearly two years ago, broke up two months ago. Although he spoke kindly of his ex, he avoided discussing the reasons for the current drama or why they broke up.

“We don’t need to talk about it. It’s not beneficial to anybody. I’m here because I don’t want anyone to misunderstand me. I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. I can live with this.”

Tono said they discussed their feelings in front of family and a priest as Tangmo is a devout Christian.

It was Tono’s announcement he was happily single again on stage during his “7 Wonders” show at Impact Arena this past Saturday which is credited with pushing Tangmo over the edge.

Tono said today he never intended to hurt Tangmo with those words and was focused at the time on entertaining his fangirls.

“I never intended to hurt her. No matter what I say, there’s something [that might hurt her] but she needs to be strong,” he said.

“When we were together, she made me happy. One day we just had to break up. I don’t want anybody dig up what we did wrong to each other. It doesn’t benefit anyone,” he said.

Asked what if he would return to Tangmo, Tono said it is too late.

“When we were lovers, we did our best,” he said. “Today, it’s over. We cannot turn back.”

“I want her to smile again. I want her to warm her dad’s and her sister’s hearts. I knew people would hate when we started dating or when we broke up, but I’m still proud every single day that I got to love her,” he said.

He had a message for the media to share with Tangmo (who says he’s blocked her on Line.)

“Think about people who love you, your dad, your fans, your friends and yourself,”  he said. “Love these people. We’re here because we have the duty to entertain people. It’s our job. Do it your best.”
