Brazilian babe wins Miss International Queen

The most beautiful transgender women in the world convened in Pattaya last night in a glittery, ostentatious showdown for the coveted Miss International Queen crown – and maybe even a sex change operation.

Twenty-five dolled-up “ladies” from 16 countries around the globe – including the first contestant ever from Myanmar – strutted in their finest sequin-laden national costumes, cocktail dresses and evening gowns for the final segment of the beauty pageant, which began with a talent contest on Tuesday.

What surely started as a fringe beauty pageant has evolved into a polished, commercialized production. The international media, transgender community and a flurry of curious spectators came out in full force to support and gawk at what is undeniably the most unique beauty pageant on earth – a competition where men who identify as women get to parade around in wildly lavish outfits for the chance to fulfill their once unthinkable childhood dreams of being a beauty queen.

In the end, smoking hot Miss Brazil, Marcelo Ohio, took the cherished crown, and the award for best evening gown. Her winnings included THB300,000 and any plastic surgery operation her heart desires. First runner-up was USA contestant Shantell D’Marco, and second runner-up was Thailand contestant Nethnapada “Nong Neck” Kanrayanon, who also won Miss Photogenic. Nong Neck won the Miss Tiffany’s 2013 transgender beauty competition in May to qualify to represent Thailand for the Miss International Queen event.

But not all other contestants went home empty handed. Spunky Miss Spain, Carolina Medina, won Miss Congeniality. The Best National Costume award went to Arisa from South Korea. Singaporian contestant Anne Patricia Lee snagged the Miss Ripley’s Popular Vote. Malaysian contestant Nur Sajat Fariz also won the Best Talent award at Tuesday night’s talent competition.
