‘Bizarre Land’ takes a satirical shot at homeland

In artist Charit Pusiri’s “Bizarre Land,” pornography is sold along sidewalks in broad daylight, babies ride on motorbikes without helmets, women are occasionally beaten and the huge class divide gapes.

Good thing he’s only being satirical! The exhibition is the artist’s own acerbic take on the more cringe-worthy dimensions of Thai society.

The images, most of which are rather computer generated, have been shared widely online with many Thais agreeing they represent the cold, hard truth.

An exhibition of the work goes on display tomorrow at Ardel’s Third Place Gallery on Soi Thonglor 10.
