Big Mountain Music Festival returns with gigantic fun

Back for the seventh year is the Big Mountain Music Festival, a weekend of live music featuring top local and international artists that is a must-do for most Thai teens.

Going with the concept “Mun Yai Mak,” literally translating to “It’s crazy huge!” the festival has attracted growing crowds of up to 70,000 music fans jamming to beats in Khao Yai.

However for the first time this year it will move to the Kaeng Krachan Country Club and Resort in Petchaburi province, around 200 kilometers from Bangkok – and of course, surrounded by gigantic mountains.

The open-air festival will feature nine stages of live music night and day, in genres including rock, pop, dance and indie, as well as luk thung and mor lam.

Thai high school girl favorites Bodyslam, Palmy, Paradox, Big Ass, Potato and Bie Sukrit will feature, as well as Lomosonic, Kaeng Som and Hun The Star, Getsunova, Singto Numchok, Moderndog, Slur, Scrubb, Polycat, 25 Hours, Jetsetter, and more.

The festival takes place during Thailand’s “winter,” so it will be perfect camping weather. You’re unlikely to get any sleep, but three zones zones will be available for tents, starting at THB500.

Tickets are available via All Ticket Thailand, 7-Eleven counters and ticket booths at the venue at THB2,000. Campers are required to register for tents.
