Bangkok’s shopping scene just got a major upgrade with the opening of Emsphere, the latest addition to the Em District in Phrom Phong, on Dec. 1.

The luxury shopping center’s grand opening was an extravagant affair, featuring special appearances by a “Universe of Superstars” including the likes of Miss Universe runner-up Anntonia Porsild and South Korean actor Kim Min Gue.

The THB20 billion mall, which spans 200,000 square meters across six floors, boasts a variety of high-street fashion labels, accessible lifestyle brands, casual restaurants, and entertainment venues.

One of the highlights of Emsphere is Thailand’s first downtown Ikea, a massive space that occupies 15,000 square meters. The store’s restaurant also offers a scenic view of the park, making it a perfect spot to enjoy some Swedish meatballs and other delicacies.

Another attraction of Emsphere is UOB LIVE, a concert and show hall operated by AEG that can accommodate up to 6,000 people for various events, such as music, fashion, jewelry and even car shows. The venue is expected to host some of the world’s biggest stars and performers, as well as local talents.

Foodies will also find plenty to satisfy their cravings at Emsphere, as the mall features several new dining options, such as Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, an all-day restaurant by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Shake Shack also recently announced that it will open its second Bangkok restaurant in Emsphere.

Emsphere is the third and final component of the Em District, a THB30 billion retail district that also includes EmQuartier and Emporium. The project aims to make Bangkok a “sleepless metropolis” that can compete with other global cities, such as Dubai, Las Vegas, Seoul, New York and Bali.

Emsphere is located on Sukhumvit Road and is open daily from 10am to 10pm. It is accessible via a direct walkway from Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain station.
