Star Wars Day is just around the corner, and sci-fi megafans in the city are about to get a chance to watch the original film trilogy at alternative cinema Bangkok Screening Room.
The indie theater will screen three original Star Wars films – A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi – on its fancyyy 4K digital projector.
Star Wars fans and moviegoers can think of it as something of a warm-up to seeing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when it gets released in theaters later this year.
To mark Star Wars Day, the Bangkok Screening Room will show the three films across three days, starting with A New Hope at 8:30pm on Friday. The next day, – the actual Star Wars Day of “May the Fourth” fame – will see The Empire Strikes Back show at 4pm. Sunday will see a 4pm screening of Return of the Jedi.
All films will show in English with Thai subtitles. Tickets are available online and cost THB300 each for adults, THB250 for students, THB240 for members and THB200 for children.
If seeing a movie, or three, is not enough for you to feel the force, then good news: The venue is also throwing a rooftop screening of The Empire Strikes Back at 7pm on Friday and will provide wireless headphones for each audience member. It will also be a good chance to pose for cool pictures with the costume-clad crew from the local chapters of the 501st Legion and Rebel Region international fan communities. Tickets for the event are THB550 for adults, THB480 for students, THB440 for members and THB360 for children.
