Bangkok — and its BTS skyline — provides the setting for the latest commercial for Chanel’s Bleu De Chanel Parfum, its new perfume for men.
Directed by Oscar winner Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave) and starring French actor Gaspard Ulliel (Hannibal Rising), the one-minute clip — released Friday — shows Ulliel leaving a work meeting to venture out into the Bangkok night. He finds himself at Chong Nonsi BTS station, a popular spot for photography, and walking through a small alley with street food.
The artsy video is set to the strains of the classic David Bowie tune Starman.
Bleu De Chanel Parfum is the French designer house’s latest addition to its Bleu De Chanel line, which first launched in 2010. It’s described by the brand as a “new interpretation of its emblematic male fragrance” and is a “powerful and refined, scent, revealing the essence of determination.” Uh huh. We’ll settle for “smells nice.”
Either way, we’re down with the talented McQueen (and mesmerizing Ulliel) giving Bangkok a shining moment on the international stage. From the way the BTS looks in Chanel’s commercial, you’d never know our infrastructure desperately needs improvement.
