Imagine the Susan Boyle phenomenon with double the frumpy Auntie power.
When two ladies walked onto the stage of Thailand’s Got Talent last night, they certainly weren’t dressed to impress, and everyone’s skepticism seemed to worsen after they introduced themselves as “Auntie Chompoo and Auntie Taptim,” 53 and 48, respectively.
Yet as soon as the opening chords of crowd-pleaser ”Mai Rak, Mai Tong” started, everyone cheered and screamed for the aunties, who proceeded to rock the stage with their cover of the pop tune from singing duo New & Jiew.
The audience’s favorite part, however, was the perfect hand-waving part of the act, which the aunties really put their hearts into.
The video of the aunties was released on YouTube yesterday and has exceeded 300,000 views already.

Is the auntie version better than the original?
