Thailand International Film Destination Festival touts Thailand’s ripe cinematic potential

Already “Southeast Asia’s most successful nation at luring foreign film shoots” (according to the Hollywood Reporter), Thailand is trying to boost its cinematic credentials even further.

The Thailand International Film Destination Festival, taking place through April 10 in Bangkok, aims to highlight Thailand’s storied past as a location for film shoots, and make a solid case for why producers should move their projects out to the Kingdom.

In addition to screening a variety of films shot in Thailand (The Beach, The Impossible, The Hangover 2, et al), the festival will host seminars extolling Thailand’s cinematic bounty and stage a short film competition in which filmmakers have a week to see their projects from inception to completion.

Interested in attending the festival’s screenings, seminars or ripe opportunities for industry hobnobbing? Head on over to Thailand International’s website for a full schedule of the festivities.
