Psy in Bangkok: “Gangnam Style” Guinness World Record attempt fails

Korean rapper-dancer extraordinaire Psy (of “Gangnam Style” fame) put on an extra-special Loy Krathong free show for Thai fans at SCG Stadium in Muang Thong Thani Wednesday night.

Around 30,000 fans showed up for the gig, which saw an unfortunately failed attempt at setting the Guinness World Record for the most people dancing to “Gangnam Style” ever.
Psy opened the show with a little crowd banter rather than delving straight into his smash hit, which has become the most viewed video on Youtube ever.

“This is my very first time in this country. You are the first people to see my performance live in Thailand, City of Bangkok. Are you ready?” Psy shouted to the crowd, before asking his tech team to kill the lights.

Psy went on to play several of his earlier songs (boring) before closing off the night with the jam that everyone was waiting for.

“This is my last song,” he said, according to the Nation. “This song needs more energy. I want everybody in this building to dance with me together, sing with me together, and rap with me together. I’m taking off this shirt. Are you ready for the dance moves?”

And then, finally, he launched into “Gangnam Style”… and we can only imagine the place went nutty nuts.
