New Zealand’s Naked and Famous to jam Moonstar Studio

Kiwi indie rock outfit The Naked and Famous will play Moonstar Studio in Bangkok on Jan. 17.

The Naked and Famous boast a female lead singer of Thai-Chinese descent! Other than that they are all standard white dudes, but still that’s a nice unusual bio tidbit and should generate interest here.

We’ve given them a listen and are…. unimpressed. Sorta sound like MGMT crossed with t.A.T.u., but worse. We’ll give them time and a few more spins.

From the event’s Facebook page:

Hailing from the shores of New Zealand, The Naked and Famous is set to electrify Thai audiences this January.

Through the release of their first studio album, ‘Passive Me, Aggressive You’ in 2010, The Naked and Famous has enjoyed an unprecedented level of success and has since taken the music world by storm, with hits like ‘Young Blood’ and ‘Punching in a Dream’.

From London to Los Angeles, The Naked and Famous have toured the most iconic music venues and performed to many thousands at world famous mega-festivals such as UK’s Glastonbury and Japan’s Fuji Rock.

Such hard work has not gone unrecognized and The Naked and Famous have been racking up numerous awards and nominations like the BBC’s Sound of 2011.

Among the five-member band is Alisa Xayalith, the lead vocalist and only female member of the group. Interestingly, Alisa is of Thai-Chinese decent and this will be the very first time that she will perform in Thailand with The Naked and Famous.
