Mogwai performing in Bangkok Dec. 2

Mogwai will bring its unique brand of instrumental/shoegaze/post-rock/whatever to Moonstar Studios in Lat Phrao this Friday Dec. 2. This will be the Glaswegian band’s first gig in Thailand and they’ll be supported by Thai indie veterans ModernDog (also performing at the Silverlake Music Festival in January) and Japanese group Toe.

Tickets are available from Thai TicketMajor and cost THB1,000.

From Thai Ticket Major:

Mogwai is set to grace Thai fans with their unique sound, as one of the most influential bands of the progressive-rock genre. With their extensive discography, Mogwai has long set the standard for instrumental rock, producing recognizable sounds such as ‘Auto Rock’ and ‘Take Me Somewhere Nice’, which are frequently featured in popular films and television. Mogwai’s latest album, ‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’ was performed at this year’s iTunes Festival (UK) and Fuji Rock Festival (Japan).

And here’s a high quality live clip of Mogwai performing “Auto Rock” to whet your appetite:
