It’s right around the corner and coming up fast. No we’re not talking about the high stakes Bangkok gubernatorial poll, we’re talking about the international day of love that is Valentine’s Day.
Regardless of whether or not you buy into this corporatized “Hallmark Holiday,” it can’t hurt to spend a night out with that special someone(s). While Bangkok may not exactly be Paris or Venice when it comes to the romance department, here is a robust list of options to help you get the most out of your February 14.
amBar Rooftop: Come and dine under the stars (evidently THE ONLY way to eat on this most romantic of days) at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel rooftop on Sukhumvit 15.
THB4,000 net per couple for an impressive seafood appetizer platter, a full buffet line which includes special strawberry collection desserts and chocolate fountain, with a complimentary bottle of wine. Live band to entertain throughout the night.
For reservations, please call 023093201 or fbadmin.sukhumvit15@fourpoints.com
Oh and amBar just so happens to be hosting a ladies night (buy one get one free prosecco). Had to throw that out there too.
Bed Supperclub: Bed, that venerable institution of Bangkok club life, gets into the V-Day mix with an uber-sweet, honey themed dining package. For the cost of THB1,600, guests will be treated to a four course meal with dishes like: marinated scallop with zucchini quenelle and rhododendron honey, honey caramelized duck leg on fennel & orange salad with chestnut honey and spicy sheep cheese with strawberry tree honey. Sounds exotic.
Because this is a nightclub after all, there will be a DJ set from Jackmaster to cap the night off.
Apsara River Cruise and/or Rooftop Dining by Banyan Tree: The formula is completely idiot proof: boat + water + fine dining = romance. If you want to shell out the bhat (THB4,888 per couple), this is a pretty failsafe way to ensure a memorable night. Cruise the River of Kings on a renovated rice barge. As a fallback option, you can always have a five course dinner on the legendary Banyan Tree Hotel rooftop…..although that will run you a cool THB12,000.
Boat departs the River City Pier around 8pm. For details call +66 (0)2 7679 1200.
The St. Regis Hotel: Not to be outdone, the St. Regis Bangkok will be hosting an array Valentine’s Day deals. If it is Italian food that you crave, the six course menu at JoJo (THB3,850 per person) should not disappoint. Alternatively, you can go for the seven course menu at VIU (THB4,250 per person). Both packages come with a complementary glass of Möet & Chandon Rosé.
The seminal option has to be the Luxury Package which should run you a whopping THB100,00. Not to leave you disappointed, this option includes Limousine pick-up, Krug Rose Champagne on the private sky-deck, a seven course candle-lit dinner and a night in the Caroline Astor Suite. All the while you shall have a private butler on call, catering to your every whim.

Xing Fu Restaurant: With Chinese New Year going on this week, why not celebrate Valentine’s Day with some delicious dim sum? Stop by Xing Fu Restaurant (Hotel Lotus Sukhumvit, Level 8) for an intimate dinner. This night out will only run about THB2,000 per couple (great value) and gets you a complementary glass of sparkling wine for your troubles.
Fall in Love Party at Fashion TV Love Bar: Single? Bitter? Looking to party? Fear not because the recently opened Fashion TV Love Bar, easily located within the Intercontinental Hotel (right above Mixx), is hosting a V-Day party from 7pm onwards. Cover is free provided you can look the part. This is a great option if you’re trying to forgo the dining and get straight to the drinking and dancing component of the evening.
Have a great Valentine’s Day! But always remember to be cautious, particularly if you’re a teenage girl.
