There are only two occasions that spring to mind when hearing the music of Jason Mraz is a pleasure. The first involves a Youtube video of a little Korean boy making “I’m Yours” cute with a ukulele. The other occasion is being sat in a beach bar polishing off a cocktail. Because nothing will bring your mood down in that situation, not even the relentless and repetitive set list that curses beach bars all through Thailand of which “I’m Yours” is certainly an integral part.
For those who disagree, maybe the news that he is coming to Bangkok will excite you!
Mraz is due to play with his band at Impact Arena on 16th June 2012 as part of his “Tour is a 4 Letter Word” tour. It guarantees to be a night full of over-excited children who definitely know the words to at least one song. With tickets at THB1000 minimum, it guarantees to be full of very well-heeled children at that.
Thankfully, the quantity of plays week-on-week is reducing through Bangkok. Although, it might take longer for the beach bars to frisbee that over-played CD where it deserves to be, in a watery grave at the bottom of the Andaman Sea.
So if you like your music to be non-offensive, non-threatening, non-thought provoking and non-challenging, a night at the Jason Mraz show should be the perfect outing for you! But we recommend you spare yourself the trip to Impact and watch this little 1:33 video instead.
