Pool Around Me is a multimedia art exhibition by Johanna Keimeyer and Martin Nicholas Kunz. It will be on display from now until March 6, 2013 at Rooftop Gallery by Farmani Group, located between Thonglor 14 and 16.
Besides a series of underwater photographs by Kunz, featuring the mermaid-like Johanna, the artist also made a video collage of herself, interspersed with other images.
At the gallery, several onlookers were completely engrossed by the video projection.
“I feel like the one place she feels she can be herself is in the water,” said one viewer.
“It’s awesome. I think everyone goes through this,” said another viewer, who bobbed her head to the video’s background music.
Hossein Farmani, Rooftop Gallery’s owner, explained why he decided to show Pool Around Me: “I chose this exhibition because I thought it would not only show something about the architecture of the pools in over 70 hotels around the world, but also the significance of the interaction of the model with the water and the pool.”
He added, “Normally we see most hotel catalog pools without any human touch. These photographs add an element of human style to an otherwise empty pool.
“The exhibit was received very well in Berlin so I thought the art community in Bangkok would appreciate it as well.”
