The first full trailer for Ryan Gosling crime movie Only God Forgives has hit YouTube and, as expected, the film looks violent.
Forgives is set in Bangkok and was shot here early last year, causing quite the surge of hormones amongst Gosling lovers in the City of Angels.
The clip starts out with Kristin Scott Thomas (Gosling’s mother in the film) smoking a cigarette, with her voiceover saying that he was “different” during the pregnancy and that “they wanted me to terminate, but I wouldn’t.”
Cut to Gosling dragging some Thai thug through a hallway by the roof of his mouth.
Other lighthearted moments in the trailer include a man being stabbed with daggers in both legs, a massacre at a noodle stand, and Gosling asking the baddie of the film: “Wanna fight?”
Forgives was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, who previously worked with Gosling on the much loved and hated Drive. In the new film, Gosling plays an American expat who runs a Muay Thai gym in Bangkok that serves as a front for a family drug smuggling operation run by his mom back in Florida.
Only God Forgives is set for a July 19 release.
