While actress Anna Kendrick’s work went unsung at the 87th Academy Awards show last night in Los Angeles, her Thai-designed coral halter gown attracted critical praise.
Kendrick, who joined Neil Patrick Harris in the award show’s opening performance in Los Angeles, chose a custom Thakoon gown featuring a jeweled collar and peekaboo below the bust. While the actress wasn’t being recognized for her Cinderella role in “Into the Woods,” her dress earned her several mentions in Oscars best-dressed lists by such as Forbes, Hollywood Life, and Nylon.
The work of designer Thakoon Panichkul, who made his name in New York since 2004, has been worn by several celebrities including Emma Stone, Sarah Jessica Parker, and U.S. first lady Michelle Obama, who wore a flora dress by Thakoon the evening her husband accepted the 2008 Democratic nomination.
