‘Alterverse’ brings real alternative music to Bangkok

It’s time to expand your alternative music playlist from just Muse and Coldplay.

“Alterverse”, a series of concerts and events, will launch in Bangkok this December, bringing together leading international and local artists from the alternative musical universe, yes, the Alterverse.

The Battles, an American rock band that isn’t the Foo Fighters, return having previously performed in Bangkok in 2009, the three members will be sure to wow both original fans and newcomers. Well-known for their dynamic math-rock sets of live-looping sessions, the band will be jamming their new album La Di Da and single The Yabba, along with more unique sounds.

Hailing from a country not too far away is Bottlesmoker, two Indonesian electropop artists that started off online in their bedroom to build a loyal fanbase across Southeast Asia. Now successful in their home country, they will be performing in festivals across the region, bringing along their bizarre toy instruments and gadgets.

Last, but not least, is Thailand’s very own electronic talent, DCNXTR. Although a little hard to pronounce, the duo are finally being recognized for their new album Connext. Their sold-out Hed Sod concert has been considered one of the best live electronic acts in Thailand, so they are not to be missed.

Tickets are THB1000 in advance and THB1500 at the event, but early birds can get them for THB800.
