Fans of Wim Wenders, or any cinephiles missing the theater experience, this weekend is your chance.

Bangkok’s newest indie cinema Doc Club & Pub will show five movies this weekend directed by German filmmaker-playwright Wim Wenders. The selections highlight his classic road trip movie Paris, Texas, highly acclaimed dark romantic fantasy Wings of Desire, and its sequel, Faraway, So Close!

The other two films are documentaries. In Tokyo-Ga (1985), Wenders turns his first trip to Japan into a homage to filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu and an exploration of Japanese modernity. For the Buena Vista Social Club (1999) he chronicled a longtime friend and renowned guitarist’s trip to Cuba to create an album. It was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 2000 Academy Awards.

The weekend also sees an extra movie not from Wenders but collaborator and cameraman Robby Muller called Robby Muller: Living the Light.

All movies show Saturday and Sunday at the Doc Club & Pub. Tickets are THB150 and can be reserved online. The independent cinema just opened on the second floor of the Woof Pack Building on Soi Sala Daeng 1.
