In case you haven’t heard, BK Restaurant Week is in full swing and bookings are still open until 2 October. There are more than 60 restaurants and countless cuisines to eat your way through, and you might be wondering where to start. If you’re looking to take those taste buds on a trip beyond Asia, we’ve got recommendations for some good ol’ American barbecue and authentic Mexican fare.
American
Ash Kickers Briskets & Bourbon
You won’t find any gas or charcoal — only traditional wood smoke — at this authentic American smokehouse in Ekkamai. Sauce is a no-no, too, making this barbecue for purists. Everything—from the ketchup to the cornbread — is homemade, too. The 16-hour-smoked beef brisket crowns the menu, but expect other specialties like beef short ribs, Hawaiian kalua pork and smoked wings. There’s even a vegan platter.

Billy’s Smokehouse
You might know Billy Bautista from Osito Unique Spanish and La Monita. Here, Billy takes on low-and-slow smoked meats with an all-American barbecue approach that nods to his California roots. Billy’s Smokehouse busts out giant plates of finger-licking smoked meat and all the sides your stomach could wish for.

Brews & ‘Ques by Crave
Brews & ‘Ques serves American BBQ classics with a dash of Thai flavors and a range of local and international craft beers to match. It’s hard to beat a post-work meal with friends in the outdoor space with some awesome meats and a cold brew in hand.

Tipsy Cow at The Kitchen Table
W Bangkok’s chic all-day restaurant deals in both Asian and Western flavors, though their recently unveiled “Tipsy Cow” concept sees carefully selected meats treated to stateside cooking techniques. The American influence is clear in this menu of smoked brisket, beef short rib and 20-layer chocolate cake.

White Shuffle
The newly relocated White Shuffle deals in bold, classic international flavors with local influence. Think dry-aged local beef striploin, cured sesame-marinated salmon and brined, smoked and roasted local pork belly.

Mexican
Carne
Carne turns the flame into a form of art, fire-roasting, char-grilling and slow-smoking prime cuts of meat and select local ingredients. Expect pan-American flavors, from Mexico to even further south of the border, with sauces, cooking styles and ingredients that draw on Argentinian and Peruvian influences, too.

La Monita Taqueria
The long-standing Phloen Chit oasis of enchiladas, burritos, cilantro-topped tacos and salt-rimmed margaritas needs no introduction at this point. The atmosphere is always lively, and the dishes here never fail to satisfy the itch for authentic Mexican cuisine.
