Thai Army canteen bans basil fried rice because it’s too smelly

A Royal Thai Army canteen has put the kibosh on basil fried rice because the Thai staple is too pungent.

Apparently the smell of the stir-fried chili, garlic and holy basil leaves had drifted into the offices of Army staff, disturbed the senior officers and prevented them from performing their duties.

According to one of the stall owners, the canteen had unsuccessfully tried to get rid of the smell by installing cooker hoods to every stall. Yet, the smell still persisted, Khaosod reported.
