Sleepless Garden Awake in Hua Mark has taken the idea of transforming a house into a restaurant to a new level. This suburban venue has been completely renovated and rebranded. Previously it was simply the Sleepless Garden. The addition of “awake” to the name is nonsensical, but with the new name comes a new stage, which consists of a covered outdoor turf seating area, a trendy industrial dining room and a new menu.

This is the perfect little nook to visit when you’re sick of the hustle and bustle of downtown, but you still want to mingle amongst the “cool kids.” This trendy suburban oasis draws a demographic of ABAC students, flight attendants, and wealthy yuppies. It’s position near the Hua Mark airport link station and several upscale condos also dictates what kind of people usually frequent the venue.

Put simply, this is the place where the party crowd goes to get take the night off.
Great drinking food like the delicious muu sa ding(160THB) or “bouncing pork”dominate the menu. These morsels of piggy tenderness are served with green seafood sauce in lieu of the usual Isan nam jim. The cocktail weenies are wrapped in bacon(185THB) are also excellent snacking fare, as are a fried weenie-bacon combo. Top-notch Belgian brews are available at predictable prices: Hoegaarden(230THB/pint), Leffe (230THB/pint) and Triple Karmeliet (220THB/330cl).

Diners looking for something more substantial should consider the impressive range of pasta entrees. The Awake team has nailed the Italian recipe for carbonara sauce, making the spaghetti carbonara with crab and bacon a must try at a reasonable 195THB. They don’t go light on the crab, either.

The outside area is equipped with a cathedral style cover, preserving the open feeling while still allowing the area to be utilized during the rainy season. Out here acoustic jams are played to a crowd sitting at picnic tables, which are scattered over a turf field. The overall vibe is laid back and natural, a perfect option for when you’ve grown tired of the concrete jungle.
