Sathorn neighborhood recently has welcomed a new joint bringing boutique beans to Soi Suan Phlu.

Occupying an enviable corner unit near the Somerset Park on Soi Suan Phlu, cafe-slash-roaster Smokey Cat gives the neighborhood a go-to spot for quality coffee.

Step inside the glass door to find a space awash in natural light, which filters in through floor-to-ceiling windows. The cafe is filled out with minimal furnishings and pops of steel blue — a setting primed for getting work done or soaking up slow mornings. In the back, you’ll find a selection of vinyl albums leaning against the wall. And if you bring your own, they’ll let you play them.

Before opening on Suan Phlu at the beginning of June, Smokey Cat roasted small batches of carefully selected beans for the better part of a year. Their loyal fanbase loves special blends like Blue Magic, with its blueberry-like flavor profile, and the caramel and vanilla-centric Honduras Litchilian, but the house blend options — Baker’s Blend (medium roast) and Norah’s Blend (light-medium roast) — are ideal components in a piccolo latte (THB120), iced americano (THB110) or latte (THB130). Single-origin pour-over options are available, too.

Besides the classic choices, the shop offers signatures like creme brulee coffee (milk, creme brulee syrup, and a shot of coffee topped with lightly torched orange skin; THB160) and espresso tonics (THB150), plus iced matcha lattes (THB140) and craft colas (THB120).

Hungry? You can get Volks bagels, croissants from Kokopan, and creme brulee cheesecake from Brave Roasters here. You can also buy bags of your favorite Smokey Cat coffee.

Smokey Cat is located on Soi Suan Phlu, reachable from BTS Chong Nonsi. It opens 8am until 5pm every day. Those who drive to the venue can get a free parking spot up to two hours at Somerset Park Suanplu building next door.
